The Education Support Program supports children enrolled in community schools by providing educational materials such as school bags, uniforms and stationery. It identifies needy children to minimize school drop-out rates and works closely with school management and parents.
The non-formal education program, launched in 1978 in five districts (Dang, Kathmandu, Morang, Bhaktapur and Banke), later diverted its resources to provide educational materials, school uniforms and bags. Schools supported by UCEP Nepal at that time included:
- Padmakanya Higher Secondary School, Dillibazar, Kathmandu
- Shree Sharada Lower Secondary School, Tilganga, Kathmandu
- Juvenile Correctional Home, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur
- Balmandir Primary School, Durbar Square, Bhaktapur
